Yesterday, I managed to fit in a long lunch with G at our favourite steakhouse near the water. As much as I would’ve liked to order rump or ribs, I opted for a grilled chicken burger with crunchy hot chips and a spicy Portuguese sauce. My friend had the miniature wagyu beef sliders and they looked adorable! Since the last time we went to the Meat and Wine Co., I can say that our palates have been more developed. Feeling adventurous and rather intrigued by the South African wines by the glass, we drank Leopard’s Leap Pinotage Shiraz (2010) which was a lovely change to the Australian and New Zealand reds I usually go for.
We finished off with a chocolate and pistachio fondant which sounded amazing on the menu but definitely lacked the nuttiness we were looking forward to. As a chocolate fondant, it was good but could have been slightly richer.
