When NET-A-PORTER does free shipping once in a blue moon to this side of the Pacific, what’s a girl on a tight budget to do? Get on it, of course! With upcoming birthdays in mind, I settled for some things that couldn’t go wrong in the beauty department.
Enter Kevyn Aucoin’s The Creamy Glow of which two were purchased in different shades so that one could be gifted away. This may be an odd thing to say, but I love how this compact shuts! To me, a sign of packaging quality is when a blush or powder compact produces a loud click as you close it up. The Creamy Glow feels sturdy and is unlikely to open up during the day when it hangs out in your makeup bag.
On camera, Tansoleil appears to be a bright coral as you can see by the heavy swatch. Applied on the skin, it’s a salmon-peach and when blended out, becomes a natural flush complementing skintones in the light to medium range of the spectrum. With cream blush, I like to swirl my middle finger in the product and put a few small strokes on my cheeks before blending with a dense flat top brush. This technique is fine if you’re not wearing foundation underneath because the buffing won’t disturb your base, otherwise I’d suggest steering clear of creamy textures and instead, opting for precision powder blush application.
For the summertime when I hit uni and sandy beaches, I’m thinking a little concealer under the eyes, my favourite highlighter, some bronzer, clean brows, SPF and a touch of Tansoleil.
